Apohair - How to make Curly hair Beautiful and Frizz Free

1. Crunchy curls aren't the only way to go. It might make your apohair even harder to manage, and your hair will look stiff. Hair is supposed to move, not be like a helmet. Long curly hair isn't the best choice, for as it gets longer, there will be more to take care of. So keep it short, but not too short. A few inches past the collar bone is a good length. Having layers is also a very pretty look too, so layers are recommended to keep curls cute and styled.

2. DON'T use shampoo and conditioner meant for straight hair. That will make hair even more unmanageable. Use products meant for curly, dry or frizzy apohair. THAT's the secret to sexy curls. Try to stick with the same brand of products. So if you choose Sunsilk, use Sunsilk anti-frizz cream, shine spray etc. Of course you don't have to if some products are cheaper than others.

   3. Frizz is a curly girl's nightmare. Moisturized apohair is smoother and usually less frizzy. So if you like, use sulfate free, nopoo or all natural moisturizing and frizz taming shampoos and conditioners instead of curl-defining ones. Conditioner washing or cowash works as well. Also, shine sprays like Zero Frizz tame frizz while adding shine and moisture.

   4. While in the shower, shampoo like you normally would, work up the lather to clean then rinse. But when conditioning, apply as much conditioner as desired then turn off the water. Leave the conditioner in for a little while scrubbing yourself with body wash or while shaving. Rinse with cold water to tame some frizz while adding shine. Repeat if you like.

   5. After shampooing and conditioning, scrunch soaking wet hair lightly, with a towel just to mop up excess water so your hair won't be drippy. Either use a curl shaping spray, cream or gel. All 3 will tame frizz while holding the curl so they won't loose their curly fluffiness. Smooth the gel or cream or spray the spray in sections so you won't miss any spots that could frizz later. A leave-in-conditioner is also good, just only use a dime to quarter sized amount so your apohair won't feel crunchy while drying.

   6. After spraying or adding cream, let your hair air dry. Air drying is recommended so your hair won't become heat damaged, but if  you must blow dry, use an antifrizz/heat protectant (like It's a 10!)follow the steps 7 and 8. For air drying, skip steps 7 and 8.Read the beginning step of step 7 for a helpful tip.

   7. Comb through your wet curls with a wide tooth comb. Add more spray or cream if you like, but only a dime sized amount of cream or a spritz here and there so your curls won't be gooey from the product. Add a heat protecting spray or strengthening cream to hair to protect it from the heat of the dryer to prevent hair breakage.

   8. Drying your hair with a diffuser dryer is the only way to blow dry without super poofy hair, but if you don't want to or if a diffuser is too expensive, a regular blow-dryer is fine. Run your fingers through the sections you are drying while they are being dried.

   9. Once hair is dry, do not use a brush because it will separate the curls and make them frizz. Use any other styling products as desired, like hairspray (which will also hold curls well while taming frizz), styling gel (just don't use to much so curls won't get gummy because most of those products contain dimethicone, which suffocates the apohair shaft and makes it oily faster) or mousse, without much drying alcohol, to smooth curls and make them perfect for styling and shaping.

   10. Once in a while, use Velcro rollers to get cute, spiral curls without heat damage. After they dry it will be soft, non-crunchy, and very, very sexy.

   11. On days where your hair just won't work, simply spray some leave-in conditioner, put it up in a messy bun, and leave strands hanging. It's cute and collective.
